About me

My name is Amara Yamamoto.  I grew up with a love for baking and started my journey in Edmonton at the age of 13 selling pies to coaches, family, and friends. I then decided to follow my passion for baking and went to school at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, France. My time in school gave me the opportunity to develop a basis in pastry, chocolate, bread, and sugar sculpting. During my time in Paris I completed an internship at a Michelin starred restaurant inside a Palace hotel as well as the opportunity to work at several patisseries. More recently I have expanded my bread making skills by attending classes at the San Francisco Baking Institute on naturally leavened breads using wild yeast.

Upon returning to Edmonton in 2011 I have worked in the ever growing food scene as well as running a small catering business. Working in the Edmonton food scene has allowed me to cater many bridal showers, weddings, parties, and corporate events. These experiences have honed my skills in both pastry and cuisine.

After several years in the restaurant industry I decided to make a change and move forward with something I am so passionate about - helping and teaching others the basics of French pastry.

I have been very fortunate to be able to teach in-person classes through the Edmonton Public Library’s Stanley A. Milner location as well as online classes through EPL as well. Please follow them on eventbrite for notifications when my next classes are available as they usually sell out in under 15 minutes!

I would like to thank my wonderful family and friends for always being so supportive and helping me along the way! As well I would like to thank all of my clients for making this become a reality.

Thank you

Amara Yamamoto
